Adolescent dating violence: A multi-systemic approach of enhancing awareness in educators, parents, and society. Public health approaches focus on preventing violence before it starts and have been shown to effectively reduce school and youth violence.This known effectiveness stands in contrast to commonly used prevention strategies, such as metal detectors and other security measures, for which there is insufficient data to determine their benefits and some evidence to suggest that they may negatively impact students’ perceptions of safety.At the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year, Texas superintendents received policy update materials from the Texas Association of School Boards, which included guidance on the new code.Superintendents also received the Guide to Addressing Dating Violence in Texas Schools.
